A view across the ocean, the culture of Europe, a new language: The scholarships of the US Alumni Club HAUS open up new horizons for motivated students from the USA and promote transatlantic exchange
Students with high academic potential are given the opportunity to realise a study stay in Heidelberg outside the usual exchange programmes and with little bureaucratic effort with a HAUS Scholarship. Funding is provided for one to two semesters at the Bachelor's or Master's level. The scholarship is financed entirely by alumni, who thus express their attachment to Heidelberg University.
Alumnae and alumni would like to use the HAUS Scholarship to inform the next generation of US students about study opportunities in Germany and Heidelberg. The central motivation is their own positive experience and the desire to make this possible for others. Interested students can apply for a study visit or participation in the one-month International Summer Course for German Language and Culture at Heidelberg University. Experience has shown that students often remain in Heidelberg afterwards or return to Ruperto Carola at a later date on their own initiative for a further study or research stay. In the USA, the former scholarship holders later become involved as “HAUS Ambassadors” in order to inspire further American students to study and research in Heidelberg.
