Service and events of the International Relations Office
Studying in a foreign country is associated with a multitude of challenges: An unknown city, a different culture and perhaps even a new language. Heidelberg University supports international students before and during their studies in Heidelberg.
Heidelberg University´s advisory service gives international students the opportunity to find answers to their questions relating to applications, financing and living in Heidelberg prior to their stay. During their studies at Heidelberg University, international students are also offered various support services, such as orientation days and the Buddy Program.
Offers at the Beginning of Your Studies
What may be tough even for new native-German students can quickly become a major challenge for international students. Not only are you in a foreign country, but now you need to manage your everyday life on your own, far from home. Within the framework of the "Buddy Programme", Heidelberg students are helping them out.
Every semester the International Relations Office holds an orientation programme especially for incoming international students. The orientation is designed to help you settle into life in Heidelberg and acquaint you with the university and your institute(s).
International Student Advisorys Office
The International Relations Office provides advisory services for international students at Heidelberg University. The staff will assist you in administrative issues (application and admission, registration, change of study programme, leave of absence, exmatriculation, etc.), in matters related to organising and financing your studies, health insurance and residency regulations. A special advisory and support service for refugees is also available.
