The application procedure for subjects without admission restrictions or entrance examinations is based on nationality, type of university entrance qualification and where it was gained as well as the desired subject.
EU/EEA citizens with a foreign university entrance qualificationas well asinternational applicants with a German university entrance qualification that they gained outside of Germany (“Bildungsinländer” with a German Abitur from a German international school)apply for their subjects via the online application portal for international applicants.
International prospective students who gained their German university entrance qualification in Germany (“Bildungsinländer” with a German Abitur from Germany)can apply for enrolment in degree programmes without admission restrictions or entrance examinations without applying online first.

About the Procedure
The type of application and registration procedure for international prospective students with a German university entrance qualification depends on whether the university entrance qualification was gained in Germany or abroad.
The University allocates places according to the conditions set out in the State Law on Higher Education in Baden-Wuerttemberg (Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg) and the Admission and Immatriculation Regulations of Heidelberg University. It is possible to enrol in a degree programme without admission restrictions or entrance examination if all formal admission requirements are fulfilled. Information on enrolment in degree programmes without admission restrictions and entrance examination that nonetheless specify additional conditions can be found in the respective selection regulations/admission regulations.

ADMISSION AND COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants for any degree programme (Bachelor degree or state examination) at Heidelberg University must hold a university entrance qualification and have very good German language skills. Additional qualifications may be required for certain subjects.
