From personal career counselling to offers such as mentoring, internships at home and abroad, job and scholarship board, workshops and language courses – in cooperation with other departments of the university as well as committed alumnae and alumni, HAI has numerous offers ready for interested parties.
Alumni who have already gained experience in professional life are welcome to get involved as speakers, career contacts or mentors and to provide students or young graduates with professional orientation.
Mentoring allows structured contact to committed network members in Germany and abroad who would like to pass on experiences from their daily work and living environment. Students and alumni - but also employees and researchers at Heidelberg University can benefit directly from advice and expertise of others in the network. People who would like to pass on experiences from their own everyday working life and living environment can get specifically involved in mentoring.
Internships at home or abroad
Offers for internships at home and abroad by HAI members for Heidelberg students in institutions in which the members themselves work or with which they maintain close contacts. Applications are open to enrolled students at Heidelberg University, students who are between two study phases at the university, and former students of Ruperto Carola whose exmatriculation was no longer than six months ago. Further offers are very welcome for the expansion of the programme.
Individual Career Counselling
At the end of their studies as well as in the career entry phase, network members can arrange individual counselling appointments and attend them in person or digitally. In addition to a CV check, HAI offers support in the job search, provides information on sectors and fields of work and is available as a sparring partner to help interested parties make decisions. Based on individual questions and needs, an application strategy can be developed in a personal discussion atmosphere.
Career Start Germany: Alumni report
Graduates of Heidelberg University who have mastered the entry into a career in Germany report on their experiences: Interested parties receive helpful information and tips that have made the start easier and also get an impression of the difficulties that have made the path more challenging. A very authentic discussion that is shaped by questions and answers from the participants.
To support and finance studies and research, HAI offers various scholarships thanks to donations from committed alumni: Graduation Grants to bridge hardships in the final phase of studies; Amirana Scholarship for medical and dental students from the global South; HAUS Scholarships for American students at the BA and MA level as well as for the International Summer Course in Heidelberg; HAIreconnect Scholarships for short research stays at the Neckar of international visiting scholars or junior researchers.
Online platform for jobs, scholarships, internships
On the online platform HAInet, HAI publishes selected job offers and hiwi positions, as well as advertisements for internships, research awards, scholarship opportunities and much more from various disciplines and sectors.
Network members can reach out to potential and talented young professionals, interns or experienced employees for their company/institution. Interested parties can place advertisements and publish offers in the online platform.
HAI members who use an alumni email address can browse the career portal careerMatch even after their time at Heidelberg University and find interesting job advertisements of all kinds, companies and their offers as well as dates for upcoming career activities in a regional, national and international context.
University Further Education
During the career search phase, network members can continue taking advantage of the further education training at student conditions offered by the University Career Service. This is a good opportunity to expand competencies and take courses for which there was not enough time during your studies or for which you had no idea that you would need the content in your professional life.
Network members who would like to contribute their experience and expertise to the above offers can become involved, for example, as speakers, discussion partners or mentors. Career contacts provide information and access to professions and sectors. Companies can make contact with current Heidelberg students or young graduates at job fairs, for example.
