SEMESTER EVENTS PROGRAMHow to Write a Term Paper: Structure and Composition

Content

I have a topic for my term paper – but no idea how to structure my text. What are the components of a good introduction, main section and conclusion? In which part of my paper do definitions belong, and how do I break my topic down into meaningful subchapters?

This workshop provides answers to international students puzzled by these questions. You will learn how to structure a scientific text and how this structure can help you to specify your research question. A guide to correct citation will be part of this workshop as well.

Please note

This course is directed primarily at international students in the first semesters of their bachelor or state examination studies, aiming to receive their degree at Heidelberg University.

The course will be offered in German. Prerequisites are therefore good German language skills (min. Intermediate Course II).

We also offer the course “How to Write a Term Paper: Finding Your Topic”. Both workshops complement each other, but participation in one workshop is not a prerequisite for the other.

For participants of this course, the instructor offers individual consultations at the end of July to discuss questions around your current term paper.
