SEMESTER EVENTS PROGRAMHow to Write a Term Paper

Content

You know what you want to write about in your term paper – but you have no idea how to narrow your ideas down to one suitable topic? Or did your teacher assign a topic to you and you don’t know how to tackle it? And if you then have a topic, are you at loss with the writing process? How can I structure my text, where do definitions belong and which subchapters make sense for my topic?

In this workshop, you will learn how to approach a topic, how to define a research question and how to structure your term paper sensibly. The characteristics of scientific writing in German academia will be dealt with as well as with the correct use of secondary literature and citation methods.

Please note

This course is directed primarily at international students in the first semesters of their bachelor or state examination studies, aiming to receive their degree at Heidelberg University.

The course will be offered in German. Prerequisites are therefore good German language skills (min. Intermediate Course II).
