My scholarly work both on the philosophy of Hegel and practical philosophy generally has been decisively shaped by my interactions with the professors with whom I was privileged to study while in Heidelberg. Similarly my work as an academic administrator, both at the undergraduate and graduate level, has been motivated in part by an effort to bring to American students the type of rich and varied curricular opportunities available to Heidelberg students and from which I benefited while studying there.
