The network meets: Exchange and professional input at home and abroad

Since the Research Alumni Network was founded in 2012, there have been opportunities to do this at events of various formats and sizes – with visiting researchers, young academics, supervisors and externals from other universities and academic institutions.

Science Slam – Heidelberg, DE

As part of #25HAI – HAI's anniversary on the occasion of its 25th birthday – HAI organised a Science Slam in cooperation with the University's Doctoral Convention on 10 November 2021. Around 120 visitors listened to the rousing performances of young scientists from various disciplines as they explained their respective research projects.

INNOVATION, TRANSFER AND HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY – Heidelberg, DE

As part of #25HAI – the anniversary of HAI on the occasion of its 25th birthday – HAI in cooperation with the university transfer agency hei_INNOVATION organised a hybrid discussion and information event on the topic of innovation and transfer at the university on 2 November 2021. Exciting for all those who are active in the field of innovation and start-ups, who would like to support transfer at the university, but also for all those who have innovative ideas and do not yet know whether and how they can implement them.

Network Meeting – Kyoto, JP

At the fourth Research Alumni Network Meeting of Heidelberg University, HAI welcomed participants from Japan, Germany, Taiwan, South Korea and China to Kyoto University, one of Ruperto Carola's partner universities in Japan, on 14 and 15 April 2018. This networking conference gave new impetus to the Heidelberg Research Alumni Network in East Asia.

3rd Research Alumni Conference – Berlin, DE

To strengthen networking with research alumni, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) invited around 50 international guest researchers from 23 research institutions in Germany to Berlin from 23 to 25 September 2015. As the winner of the AvH's “Research Alumni of German Universities” competition, Heidelberg University was also able to send three guest researchers to the conference, which was held for the third time.

1st Research-Alumni Conference Germany – Berlin, DE

Six international visiting researchers from Heidelberg research institutions took part in the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation's 1st Research Alumni Conference Germany in Berlin from 27 to 29 November 2013. The aim of the meeting was to win over future research alumni as multipliers for what Germany has to offer as a research location and at the same time to strengthen their ties to their host universities from the very beginning.

Network Meeting – RomE, It

Under the motto "Italy and Heidelberg - Strong Partners in Europe", the third Research Alumni Network Meeting took place in Rome, Italy, on 21 and 22 February 2013. Around 15 former visiting researchers from Ruperto Carola in Italy came to the network meeting. Together they discussed perspectives and challenges for science, research and teaching in Germany and Italy, as well as the opportunities that the network offers former visiting researchers. Along with India and the USA, Italy is one of the three focal points in the initial phase of the Research Alumni Network.

NetwOrk Meeting – Boston, US

On 20 and 21 September 2012, the second Research Alumni Network Meeting took place in Boston, Massachusetts. Almost 20 former visiting researchers from Heidelberg from various regions of North and Central America met at the German Consulate General in Boston to find out the latest news about Heidelberg as a research and science location and to receive extensive information about the Research Alumni Network.

NetwOrk Meeting – New Delhi, In

On 23 and 24 March 2012, the first Research Alumni Network Meeting took place in New Delhi, India. Almost 20 research alumni from South Asia met in India's capital Delhi for the start-up meeting of the Resesarch Alumni Network. The Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan provided a successful setting for this first meeting and a lively exchange between the participants.
