Looking for some culture, city history, university life, facts and figures, professional or entertaining things to do after work? Then why not visit a HAIlight!
In the event series “HAIlight” we have been taking a look behind the scenes of the university together with you for more than 10 years now to brush up memories and discover sides of Ruperto Carola, that have been unrevealed during your time here. We get to know new sides of Heidelberg or gain exciting insights into life and work of our members and other people associated with the university. Be in for a surprise!

World-class collections at the Heidelberg Center for Cultural Heritage (HCCH)
The Egyption and the Uruk Warka Collection
When: Friday, 13 November 2026
- 2:00pm to 4:00pm – Slot 1
- 4:15pm to 6:15pm – Slot 2
Where: Meeting point HAI, Marstallstraße 6, Ground Floor, 69117 Heidelberg
The time has finally come: following a long period of refurbishment, the Egyptian and Uruk Warka Collections are reopening their doors! HAI members now have the opportunity to take part in exclusive guided tours and discover selected original artefacts from ancient Egypt and the Mesopotamian metropolis of Uruk, which is regarded as the cradle of ancient Oriental civilisation. Whether intricately crafted objects, such as coffins and mummies, mysterious imagery or early examples of writing – the collections offer surprising insights into the ways of life, beliefs and achievements of past societies.
The event will be held in German.

Registration:
To enable as many people as possible to take part in this HAIlight, we are offering two sessions at different times on 13 November 2026. Each session includes a guided tour of both collections.
Registration is required; places are limited and reserved for HAI members. Accompanying persons who are not registered with HAI will not be able to take part on this occasion.
Please register by Sunday 8 November 2026 at the latest using the link below. If your preferred date is already fully booked, you are welcome to join the waiting list so that you may be able to take a place should any cancellations arise.
