The hei_INNOVATION Ideas Competition 2026 is open to all members of Heidelberg University, including the Medical Faculties in Heidelberg and Mannheim. The competition seeks innovative ideas and research projects with commercialization or societal impact potential, addressing economic, ecological, or social challenges. The best ideas will be presented and awarded at the IMPACT DAY 2026.

The competition features two categories: Health and Future Technologies, for transformative medical and technological innovations, and Impact Innovation, for projects from the humanities and social sciences that combine social justice, sustainability, and technological progress. An interdisciplinary panel of experts evaluates the submissions and supports the further development of the ideas.

Eligible participants include students, doctoral candidates, researchers, staff, and alumni (up to three years after leaving the university), either individually or in teams. Multiple ideas may be submitted, but a maximum of one prize will be awarded per person or team. Finalists receive prize money, qualified feedback, consulting support, and professional pitch training.
