Course Content
The aim of the Master’s degree programme in English studies is to expand and consolidate the methodological and specific knowledge and skills acquired in a Bachelor’s degree in English studies. This degree programme emphasises research-oriented study and a broad interdisciplinary approach and combines traditional competencies in literary studies and linguistics with skills in new cultural and instructional techniques. This approach qualifies students for independent academic work as well as careers in professions that emphasise linguistics, literary studies as well as information science.
Course Structure
Over the course of the first three semesters, students complete four seminars, four lectures and two research-oriented independent studies projects, supervised by professors. Within these curricular restraints, students can still individually plan their learning content and focus on their needs and interests. Students are required to complete their Master's thesis and prepare for the final oral examination in the fourth semester.
