Industry Cooperations

The university fosters collaboration between research, start-ups, and industry. Within this framework, various Industry-on-Campus projects are supported. In addition, the university assists in building new partnerships with companies and in carrying out joint activities at the interface of science and industry.

Catalysis Research Laboratory

Post docs from Heidelberg University and BASF are collaborating at the Catalysis Research Laboratory (CaRLa) in the field of homogeneous catalysis. The catalysis laboratory is funded by BASF and the University of Heidelberg as part of a privileged partnership. Heidelberg University with funds from the Excellence Initiative of the Federal Government and the and the federal states.

InnovationLab GmbH

The InnovationLab GmbH (iL) is a joint application-oriented research and transfer platform at the intersection of science and business focussed on printed electronics and technology transfer. It is maintained by the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT), Heidelberg University, as well as BASF SE, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, und SAP SE.

Nikon Imaging Center

The Nikon Imaging Center is a light microscopy facility of the university’s Bioquant research centre in cooperation with Nikon GmbH, Nikon Instruments Europe B.V. as well as other firms active on the international stage. Through the NIC, scientists in the life sciences and medicine at Heidelberg University have access to state-of-the-art microscopic procedures and instruments.

Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing

until 2021
The Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing (HCI) was established in 2008 by the university and partners from industry. As the largest image processing center in Germany, it consisted of three chairs for image processing at the university and additional positions for young scientists funded by the Excellence Initiative and the participating companies.
