FoF 4 Transdisciplinary Main Research Area: Family
The FoF 4 Main Research Area Family is a transdisciplinary concept which aims to bring together researchers with research interests in the field of family studies across all four FoFs of Heidelberg University. Its goal is to initiate collaborative research activities
in this area. During networking meetings, research questions will be developed and discussed, concrete interdisciplinary projects will be drafted, and potential for knowledge transfer will be identified.

Call for Bridging-Project FoF4 and FI EMS
Following-up on a joint workshop of FoF4 and FI EMS on “Regulation and Decision-Making in Collectives”, the Field of Focus 4 (FoF4) “Self-Regulation and Regulation: Individuals and Societies” and the Flagship Initiative Engineering Molecular Systems (FI EMS) call for a project bringing together the research fields and disciplines of EMS and FoF4. The Bridging-Project aims to foster and/or recruit a talented postdoc researcher with great potential from Heidelberg University or the international research community.The grant will cover one postdoc position for two years and material expenses up to 20.000 € p.a. The grant also includes the request to host an interdisciplinary workshop on the project topic.
FoF4 Core Facilities
Field of Focus 4 (FoF4) provides funding via the CORE FACILITIES call to promote core facility development. Building on existing infrastructure, core facilities can realize synergies, contributing thus to the aims of the university excellence strategy and providing broad access to the facilities / measures.
Explorer Project with a Thematic Focus on „Social Integration – Social Disintegration – Social Innovation“
The Research Council of the Field of Focus 4 (FoF4), Self-Regulation and Regulation: Individuals and Societies, plans to fund Explorer Projects (EXP) with a thematic focus on social integration, social disintegration and social innovation. Projects should address aspects of self-regulation and regulation of individuals and societies with regard to conditions, mechanisms, effects, and dynamics related to different areas within or across countries using empirical research approaches or case-related studies.
Explorer Projects with a Thematic Focus on „Better Data! Better Action? Better Policy?“
The Research Council of the Field of Focus 4 (FoF4), Self-Regulation and Regulation: Individuals and Societies, plans to fund Explorer Projects with a thematic focus on the question if better data leads to better action and better policy. Projects should address the “knowledge-action gap” and examine if or if not, how, or to what extent available or provided data affects our behaviors as individuals and as societies.
