- Geographisches Institut, Raum 13 (Seminarraum EG), Im Neuenheimer Feld 348, 69120 Heidelberg
- Dr. Jules Kerckhoffs, Utrecht University (Netherlands)
As part of the GIScience Colloquium co-organized by Heidelberg University's Institute of Geogprahy (GIScience) and HeiGIT (Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology), Dr. Jules Kerckhoffs of Utrecht University (Netherlands) will deilver an open lecture titled “The Road to Clean Air: Using Mobile Monitoring for Hyperlocal Exposure Assessment”. Jules Kerckhoffs is an assistant professor at Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences (IRAS). He works at the intersection of air‑quality science, environmental epidemiology, and urban exposure assessment. His research focuses on the exposure to ultrafine particles, black carbon, nitrogen dioxide, heat, and noise, with a strong emphasis on hyperlocal monitoring and exposure modeling. He is involved in multiple Dutch and European initiatives that map and understand environmental exposures at street level. His talk will cover most of these topics starting from the first mobile monitoring campaigns to the exploration of new technologies and exposures.
