Accompaniment and Counselling

Psychotherapeutic University Outpatient Clinic

The Psychotherapeutic University Outpatient Clinic (Psychotherapeutische Hochschulambulanz) offers support for eye-witnesses, those affected, relatives and students. Those wishing for assistance can turn to the Psychotherapeutic University Outpatient Clinic at any time. The assistance on offer comprises up to three consultations with an experienced, qualified psychotherapist.
Telephone office hours are available at the following times:

  • Mondays 4:30pm to 6pm
  • Wednesdays 9 to 11am.

Centre for Psychosocial Medicine at the Heidelberg University Hospital

The Centre for Psychosocial Medicine offers short-term psychosocial support, particularly for students, from experienced professionals with the necessary expertise and counselling experience. Appointments can be made at short notice by phone from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4pm. Outside of these times the doctors on duty are reachable on 06221 56–4466 or 0151 167 594 23.

The team of the Psychosocial Counselling Centre offers supportive psychosocial counselling sessions for students and reserves counselling appointments for that purpose.

Central Institute for Mental Health (ZI) Mannheim

The central outpatient department of the Central Institute for Mental Health in Mannheim is giving priority to appointments for those seeking assistance in dealing with Monday’s events at the Im Neuenheimer Feld campus.

State-run services

Accident insurance Baden-Württemberg (UKBW)

The UKBW coordinates assistance and support for all those who were present on site for study purposes, work there or provided First Aid. They are all covered by statutory accident insurance and will receive support and care.

  • Care for victims, relatives and dependants
  • Experienced staff contacts in the area of psycho- and trauma therapy for First Aid
  • Rehabilitation management for more far-reaching support for victims, relatives and dependants

Commissioner for victims of the state of Baden-Württemberg

The commissioner for victims of the Baden-Württemberg government and the commissioner’s office assist and counsel victims, affected persons and relatives in the case of terror attacks, individuals running amok and events causing large-scale damage, from the start of the acute phase until the conclusion of the follow-up phase.
