Only three German universities are among the “top 100” worldwide in the QS World University Rankin

Ruperto Carola has confirmed its excellent placing among the “top three” best universities in Germany in the QS World University Ranking 2022/2023. Heidelberg University comes third in Germany after Technical University of Munich (49) and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (59). Internationally Heidelberg University ranks 65th; Europe-wide it is number 20. Heidelberg and the two Munich universities are the only German universities represented in the QS Ranking’s “top 100”.

Institutions in the QS World University Rankings are assessed across six weighted categories. A university’s reputation makes up 50 percent of the overall score, with academic reputation accounting for 40 percent and employer reputation for ten percent. Other criteria include the staff-student ratio and citations per staff member (20 percent each). The share of international scholars and the share of international students are also taken into account (five percent each). The current ranking rates more than 1,400 universities from around the world.
