Liaison offices Centers abroad

Heidelberg University aims to strengthen its international visibility by establishing liaison offices around the world. These offices in Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia and East Asia function as scientific hubs for regional studies, provide services to all institutions of the University and pave the way for international graduates to come to Heidelberg.

Together with their related research institutes in Heidelberg, the four liaison offices are the institutional bridges connecting Heidelberg University to its strategic international focus regions.

With its strategy of interlacing transdisciplinarity with multilocal internationality, Heidelberg University has become an important stakeholder in the relevant focus regions, providing teaching, research and knowledge transfer to, with and in Southeast Asia, East Asia, the two Americas and Europe.

There is also ongoing collaboration between the four centers abroad. For instance, they facilitate networking among researchers at various career stages from Heidelberg University’s international focus regions.
