To help address complex ecological challenges, Heidelberg University strengthens the exchange between academic players and non-scientific partners and promotes the transfer of research findings on sustainability and the environment to business and industry.

Event formats

Heidelberg University uses various event formats aimed at both the general public and at certain parts of the public to transfer scientific findings relating to sustainability to society. The aim is to inform the public about current research projects in the environmental sciences and related disciplines and to promote the dialogue between science and society.

Sustainability-themed Start-Ups

Airyx

A spin-off of the Institute of Environmental Physics, Airyx specialises in the development of customised, precision gas measuring devices. The instruments primarily measure nitric oxide, formaldehyde, ozone and sulphur dioxide concentrations. Airyx’ fields of activity include vehicle emissions measurements, and immission and emission measurements for institutions and businesses.

German Renewables

Based on an international network and country-specific data, German Renewables – a spin-off of the Institute for Political Science – advises German businesses in the environmental sector with regard to international expansion and the development of new markets. The company wants to support its main target group – medium-sized enterprises focusing on maintaining soil, air and water quality – in exporting products and technologies.
