Management of Studies Student ID
Heidelberg University provides its students with a multifunctional student ID. This card identifies the holder as a student of Heidelberg University. The ID card combines authentication or login services and payment functions.
Functions
The student ID is used for the following:
- University computer centre and library services that require an ID or login
- University library card
- Payment card for student services (cafeteria, copier, etc.)
General information on the student identity card
Once you have been enrolled as a student at Heidelberg University, you will receive an email containing information about your Uni-ID, your activation password and details of how to receive your student ID card. Please note that guest auditors and students registered through the partnership programmes with the Heidelberg University of Education (PH Heidelberg) and the University of Mannheim will NOT receive a student ID card.
The student card must be validated by the student after it has been issued and after each re-registration. The semester period is indicated on the thermal strip of the student card. The validation devices are located in the service portal of central university administration and the main cafeteria in Neuenheimer Feld. On the Mannheim medical campus there is a validation device in the library printer room.
Student ID got lost?
Found student IDs can be picked up at the service portal on presentation of an identity card.
You will be informed by the student administration about the found student identity card by e-mail as soon as we receive it!
Please note that it may take a few days for the student ID cards to be delivered from the location where they were found.
