Management of StudiesStudent ID
The student ID has many advantages: Amongst other things, it can be used as a means of payment in the Mensa and serves as a user card for the university library. Any questions you have which relate to your student ID, such as what to do if you lose your ID, costs and data protection, are answered here.
What happens if my student ID is stolen?
If your student ID is stolen or lost, you must inform the Student Administration, part of the central university administration. In the service portal you can apply for, and collect a new student ID on presentation of a photo ID.
I’ve lost my student ID. Where are lost student IDs handed in and collected?
Any student IDs which have been found are passed onto the University administration. If your student ID has been handed in, the Student Administration will inform you by email. You can collect your student ID during the normal opening hours of the Service Portal at the Student Administration. Please note that it can take several days for IDs which have been handed in to be transported from where they were found to the Student Administration.
Do I need to pay for my student ID?
Your first student ID is produced free of charge. In the event of loss or inability to function, no fees are currently charged for a second issue.
What information is stored electronically on the card and how well is this information protected?
Only the payment function for student services is stored electronically on the card. No student data is saved on the card.
