StudienorganisationStudent ID
The student ID has many advantages: Amongst other things, it can be used as a means of payment in the Mensa, and as a ticket for public transport. Any questions you have which relate to your student ID, such as what to do if you lose your ID, the semester ticket for public transportation, and data protection, are answered here.
What happens if my student ID is stolen? How do I get the card blocked?
If your student ID is stolen or lost, you must inform the Student Administration, part of the central university administration. At the same time, you can apply for, and collect a new student ID.
I’ve lost my student ID. Where are lost student IDs handed in and collected?
Any student IDs which have been found are passed onto the University administration. If your student ID has been handed in, the Student Administration will inform you by email. You can collect your student ID during the normal opening hours of the Service Portal at the Student Administration. Please note that it can take several days for IDs which have been handed in to be transported from where they were found to the Student Administration.
Do I need to pay for my student ID?
Your first student ID is produced free of charge. If this is lost, or rendered unusable, you will be charged a fee of 10 EUR.
What information is stored electronically on the card and how well is this information protected?
Only the payment function for student services is stored electronically on the card. No student data is saved on the card.
Is the semester ticket for public transportation integrated in the new student ID?
The multifunction student ID serves as a ticket for public transport during the evening, at the weekend and on bank holidays. The ticket can be used on Monday - Friday from 19:00, and throughout the entire day at the weekend and on bank holidays. The ticket is valid in the VRN area without Western Palatinate (Westpfalz). The semester ticket for public transportation is not integrated into the new student ID as this would mean that all students would be obliged to purchase it.
