Management of Studies Exmatriculation

If you are re-registered for the current semester, you can apply for exmatriculation at any point and the exmatriculation will take effect at the end of this semester. This means you will receive a proof of exmatriculation rightaway, but you will remain a member until the semester ends.

An immediate exmatriculation effective as of a specific date in the semester is only possible if you can provide proof of a special reason. The special reasons that justify an exmatriculation by date are:

• Passed final exam
• Change of university
• Taking up employment

It is not possible to exmatriculate retroactively. The application for exmatriculation (available to fill out digitally in the download center) should include a clearance note from the university library and, if applicable, other institute libraries (Medicine Mannheim, Dentistry). This proves that there are no outstanding fees or books.

The application for exmatriculation offers a selection of different reasons for exmatriculation. Please select the reason that applies to you. Reasons for exmatriculation may include: Successful completion of a course, immediate transfer to another university, interruption of studies

You can submit the application for exmatriculation by email (preferred).

A paper version of the application is also available on site at the Student Administration Office and in the University Library. You can send it by mail or submit it in person at the Student Administration.

Once the requested exmatriculation has been processed, you will receive a certificate exmatriculation and a certificate for pension insurance. On the application form, you can choose whether you would like to receive the certificate by email or by mail.
