All Master’s degree programmes at Heidelberg University are access-restricted. The application for a place on a consecutive Master's programme with restricted access takes place via the online portal heiCO. Registration and uploading of all required documents is required for this.
The respective admission restriction is defined in the subject-specific admission regulations or the study and examination regulations. The criteria to be fulfilled for the respective study program can be found in the corresponding statutes/regulations.
For their application, applicants for the selected degree programme must upload certain documents to the application portal by the deadline.
The application is made via the online portal heiCO.
Winter Semester: 01.04.-30.09.
The university allocates places according to the criteria specified in the subject-specific admission regulations or the study and examination regulations. In some Master's degree programmes, an interview or test is part of the admission process.
Applicants admitted to the Master's program will be asked in their heiCO account (Self-service view) to accept the study place within a deadline indicated there. If the study place is not accepted by the deadline, the entitlement to the study place expires.

Subsequently, enrolment takes place online and by submitting documents by post to the Student Administration Office within the enrolment period specified in the letter of admission.

and please note that the documents to be submitted by post for your enrollment must also be received by Heidelberg University by the deadline stated in your letter of admission.
If your certificate is issued in a name other than your current name, you must submit official proof of your name change.

Information on the additional tuition fees that international students may have to pay when enrolling can be found on the homepage under "Tuition fees for international students". You can find the contribution amount applicable to you, your personal purpose and the current contribution status in your heiCO account under "Tuition fee status".
Once your enrolment has been processed, you will receive an e-mail informing you that you can collect your student ID card from the University Administration Office at the earliest five working days after receiving and activating your Uni-ID, but only in person and on presentation of an official photo ID (e.g. identity card or passport). Please note that the Uni-ID is allocated at the earliest from 1 February for the summer semester and at the earliest from 1 August for the winter semester.
Depending on the nationality of international students, they may require an entry visa and a residence permit for study purposes pertaining to the specific degree programme in order to study at Heidelberg University. Further information can be found on the instruction sheet: Visa/residence permit
If you are already enrolled at Heidelberg University, you are not required to re-register in the case of a change of subject. Instead, please change your degree programme prior to expiry of the deadline stated in the letter of admission.
