Course Content
The Bachelor’s degree programme in Education Studies provides students with a comprehensive overview of the specialised aspects and theoretical fundamentals of Education. Students will obtain the skills and knowledge necessary both for the professional design of educational and learning processes as well as for the development of parameters for learning and education processes within society or in institutions and organisations. During the course of studies, the methodological and research-theoretical fundamentals of empirical Education Studies will be established.
Following completion of their studies, students will have acquired basic education studies knowledge in the areas of: Child-raising, socialisation and education, teaching and learning, instruction, counselling, and innovation. In addition, they will learn to correctly apply scholarly work methods and, through internships, have the opportunity to gain practical experience. Students will learn to derive scholarly-based judgements, to formulate their opinions on the basis of specialised knowledge and be able to defend these opinions. They will also display competence in participating in transdisciplinary dialogue in the areas of child-raising, socialisation, and education.
Course Structure
The modules offer an introduction to the fundamentals of Education Studies:
- Module 1 Introduction to Education Studies
- Module 3 Learning and Educational Processes of Individuals and the Parameters for These within Society, Institutions, and Organisations
- Compulsory Elective Module 4 Methodological and Research Fundamentals in Empirical Education Studies, or
- Compulsory Elective Module 6 Career-Oriented Internship
In Module 1, the fundamental concepts of Education Studies, such as education, child-raising, and socialisation, as well as basic theories of Education Studies, will be elucidated. Module 3 will address such questions as: How do I analyse educational processes and teaching-learning situations within specific societal, institutional, and organisational contexts, taking into consideration the political and legal aspects of education? The focus of Module 4 is on methodological and research-related aspects, such as participation in EASI-Day, including a structured written follow-up report, while Module 6 focusses on career-oriented experience gained through an internship, such as participation in PROF-Day, including a structured written follow-up report.
