Course Content
The Bachelor’s degree programme in Biology equips students with a solid understanding of fundamental biological principles, as well as key competences. Topics covered include biodiversity and evolution of plants and animals, physiology and developmental biology as well as biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology. The Biology degree programme provides students with fundamental and specialised knowledge and ways of thinking, which can also be applied in other subject areas. Students are able to describe interconnections between subdisciplines of biology and between different levels of organisation in biological systems. Students are able to plan and implement their own teaching and learning. They are able to think analytically and critically and possess specialised and subject-specific didactical skills.
Course Structure
The Bachelor’s degree programme (50%) with the Teaching Degree option prepares students to pursue a consecutive Master of Education. Classes and lecturers are integrated within modules and students are examined on these during the course of study.
Biology may be studied in combination with any subject which is offered as a school subject. Ideally, Biology should be studied in combination with another science.
