CallsStrengthening area studies

Objectives: Strengthening the research profile in the field of Area Studies, promoting the networking of Area Studies centers

Preliminary remark: The funds of the University of Excellence are earmarked for a specific purpose, they serve the strategic development of the University in the field of top-level research and may only be used for the purpose of building the profile of the Field of Focus 3 or Heidelberg University, internal and external networking, the promotion of young researchers and transfer.

Funding is provided for measures that strengthen area studies. It is expected that, as a rule, two of the existing centers will join forces to pursue joint initiatives that may also aim to involve other regions. Various measures such as workshops, lecture series, retreats, transfer activities, conferences, summer schools etc. can be funded.

Desired are Points of contact with the research priorities of Field of Focus 3:

  • Knowledge Research
  • Cultural Heritage (in Cooperation with the Flagship Initiative Transforming Cultural Heritage)
  • Disorder/Transformation
  • Corporeality/Embodiment/Synaesthetics/Interaction

Type of funding: Material and personnel funding (auxiliary staff funding) can be applied for.

Maximum application amount: EUR 15,000
 

All researchers at Heidelberg University with at least a doctorate are eligible to apply. The application and involvement of young researchers is strongly encouraged.

  • Abstract (max. 1,000 characters)
  • Detailed description with regard to objectives, expected networking/profile building,
  • Preliminary work program with financial and time schedule
