Core Facility Core Facility for Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics (CFMP)
The Core Facility for Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics is an infrastructure facility of the Center for Molecular Biology of Heidelberg University (ZMBH). We support the research scientists of the FoF1 / Heidelberg and Mannheim Life Sciences campus with high-performance mass spectrometry aimed at protein analytics and proteomics. We offer user-friendly protocols and provide guidelines relevant to successful sample preparation.
For the most current version of our protocols, learning opportunities, and news, please check our internal website:

Project Request

Below you can find a step-by-step description on what should be done before submitting your first request:
- Carefully read the User regulations
- Register to our service-booking platform iLab
- Familiarize yourself with the recommendations on sample preparation appropriate for the chosen service and carefully read the general guidelines for sample preparation and storage
- Carefully read the sample submission guidelines
Please, contact the Facility before you send any samples, to discuss your needs and to determine the best approach to prepare and analyze your samples. To schedule an appointment, contact Marcin Luzarowski: m.luzarowski@zmbh.uni-heidelberg.de

Fees & Important Notes
A detailed price list including project examples can be found here. Please, note that the final price has to be discussed with the head of the CFMP.
Each facility user is obliged to be familiar and sign CFMP user regulations.
The contribution of the CFMP to research projects should be properly acknowledged. This acknowledgment not only enhances the visibility of the CFMP but also supports its efforts in securing external funding and acquiring new instruments. Contributions from the CFMP may include, but are not limited to:
- Development of new analytical methods
- Assistance with experimental design
- Data generation and/or evaluation
- Support in manuscript preparation, including figure creation, preparation of supplementary data, and submission of raw data.
Samples are processed on a first come first serve basis. Sample processing includes protein digestion into peptides, sample clean-up, peptide separation and quantification using LC-MS and an initial database search. Regular services are usually processed usually within 2-4 weeks. Additional services usually take up to 8 weeks.
