Academic Practice Ombudsmen

In the event of suspected academic misconduct, one of the three Senate-appointed ombudsmen – one for the humanities and social sciences, one for natural sciences, and one for life sciences – or the chair of the commission serves as the initial point of contact.  Chain of command is irrelevant.

The ombudsmen counsel those who report suspected academic misconduct and investigate the plausibility of the allegation. They are consulting members of the commission, to whom they submit the cases for deliberation.
