University places in degree programmes with nationwide admission restrictions - in Heidelberg these are medicine, dentistry and pharmacy - are directly allocated by the university to prospective non-EU/EEA students with foreign university entrance qualifications.

Specific admission requirements

The subject-specific selection statutes/admission regulations describe the procedure for applicants with German or EU/EEA citizenship as well as for international applicants with German university entrance qualifications from Germany or from a German school abroad (Bildungsinländer). According to the current allocation regulation of the Ministry of Science of the State of Baden-Württemberg, 5% of the total number of available study places are allocated to non-EU/EEA nationals with a foreign university entrance qualification. When allocating these study places, Heidelberg University follows §2b of the current Higher Education Admission Act (HZG).
