4EU+ Collegio Futuro: Call for Applications from Doctoral Candidates

Applying for admission to the interdisciplinary college of the 4EU+ European University Alliance is possible until 5 July

Interested in researching central issues of sustainable development? In the Collegio Futuro, a joint college of the 4EU+ European University Alliance, young researchers cross disciplinary and national boundaries to tackle the challenges of socioeconomic transformation towards sustainability. The concern of the interdisciplinary college is to develop scientifically founded approaches to solving urgent ecological and societal issues. Eligible to apply are doctoral candidates of all disciplines belonging to the 4EU+ universities of Heidelberg, Prague, Sorbonne/Paris, Milan or Warsaw. The closing date for applications is 5 July 2023.

Collegio Futuro is located at the Heidelberg Center for the Environment (HCE) of Heidelberg University and operates in the context of the flagship initiative “Environmental Transitions” of the 4EU+ Alliance. Fields of action for which strategies are to be developed in the current round of applications are the adaptation of cities to climate change and loss of biodiversity, sustainable aquaculture and sustainable land use. The curriculum – a total of five ECTS credits may be acquired – comprises an introductory workshop in October and an Autumn School lasting several days to be held in Heidelberg in November. After a phase of personal and group work, a final workshop will take place in January 2024 at which the results will be presented. In addition, this will offer an opportunity for discussion with scientists and political decision-makers.

Five doctoral candidates from each of the 4EU+ universities participating in the call can be admitted to the Collegio Futuro.
