CALL FOR PROPOSALS EARLY-CAREER PROJECTS GET STARTED!
AIM
The Research Council of the Field of Focus 4 (FoF4) funds research projects by early-career researchers of FOF4 (i.e., regularly post-doctoral researchers with non-permanent positions and eventually doctoral students with exceptional research ideas).
This call is open for all areas of research. Projects should address one specific research aim or comprise one particular study that then provides the necessary preliminary work for acquiring third-party funding (e.g. a DFG individual grant). Researchers who intend to use the core facility of FOF4, CNSR, for a specific research project are also welcome to apply.
FUNDING SCHEME
This call will start in April 2024 and end in September 2026. All early-career scientists of FoF 4 can apply once for up to 5.000 EUR. Please be aware that the funding cannot be transferred into the next year.
PROPOSAL
Proposals shall not exceed a maximum of 3 pages (budget plan, CV and further appendices excluded) and may be submitted by early career researchers of the FoF4. Collaborations with researchers from FoF1, FoF2, and FoF3 are encouraged but not mandatory. Applicant names and affiliations need to be listed in the proposal, additional researchers may be affiliated during the funding period. The proposal should highlight interdisciplinary aspects, if applicable, and the expected research outcome.
The proposal should cover the following aspects:
- Short summary
- Status quo and aim of project
- Own preliminary work in the field
- Potential and perspective for third-party funding
- Interdisciplinary aspects
- Budget plan (please refer to the provided outline on the FoF 4 website)
- Information on applicants (including name, affiliation, up to five publications relevant for the research project, list of currently funded projects including those highlighted that have a direct link to the proposed research)
REVIEW AND QUALITY CONTROL
The Research Council will select proposals for funding. The Research Council can involve additional experts for advice. Regular reporting on activities to the Research Council will be mandatory in case the project is funded.
