Childcare Offers of the Studierendenwerk Heidelberg
Childcare places for children of student parents are allocated exclusively by the Studierendenwerk Heidelberg. The following childcare facilities are available:
Children from 8 weeks to 3 years old
Kinderkrippe (crèche) Im Neuenheimer Feld 685 (40 places)
Toddlers between 1 and 3 years of age
Krabbelstube (toddlers' group) Humboldtstraße 19 (20 places)
Children from 3 years old to school enrolment
Kindertagheim (nursery) Im Neuenheimer Feld 159 (kindergarten, 60 places)
Kindergarten (nursery) Humboldtstraße 17 (35 places)
Opening hours:
The Kinderkrippe (crechè) and Krabbelstube (toddlers' group) are open Monday - Friday, 7.30am to 6pm.
The nurseries are open Monday - Friday, 7.30am to 4.30pm.
The Daycare Centre offers public servants and health care staff of the University Hospital extended opening hours Monday - Friday, 6.15am to 8.15pm.
Registration:
Registration is handled exclusively by the Studierendenwerk and in the social counseling.

At the Studierendennwerk you can receive detailed information about childcare costs, possible support contributions from the Youth Office and the tax deductibility of work-related childcare costs.
Backup-Service of Heidelberg University at the Children's Centre
In urgent and unforeseeable situations, the University’s Backup-Service at the Children's Centre provides childcare that is readily available and answers individual needs in an unbureaucratical manner. With the Backup Service, children up to three years of age can be admitted to the Crèche INF 685 short term; children from three to six years old can be admitted to and looked after at the Daycare Centre (INF159) on a short-term basis. Holiday Childcare of Heidelberg University
In cooperation with different institutions, Heidelberg University offers subsidized holiday childcare. Sports activities, crafting and creative workshops as well as field trips are essential parts of Holiday Childcare. KidsClub of Heidelberg University
At the KidsClub of Heidelberg University younger and older children as well as their parents have a place to meet with others and make new friends. They find a diverse offer of games, craft materials, sports equipment and even a foosball table – all available in the Neuenheimer Feld campus area in the mall next to the bookstore: Im Neuenheimer Feld (INF) 370. Since November 2007 fairy tales from all over the world are read in different languages every other week at 4.45pm.

(Free) Mensa for Kids
Since winter term 2009/2010 the Studierendenwerk has extended its "service for students" to include the children of students. Up to the age of ten, children of students can get free meals at the university canteens (Mensa) when accompanied by their parents. You receive an authorization card by presenting your family record or a copy thereof at the Marstallhof 1, ground floor, Room 002.

Assumption of day-care fees by the Youth Welfare Office
Student parents or single parents can apply for subsidisation or assumption of costs for a crèche, daycare centre or childminder within the limits of the standard rate at the Children and Youth Office. Certain income limits apply – ask at the Children and Youth Office.
Application forms are available at the city's administrative offices or at the Studierendenwerk.
