All degree programs at the Institute of Political Science have admission requirements.

You can find more information about the respective application procedures and requirements below.

The Master’s program in political science is an option for students who have completed a Bachelor’s degree in a related subject with an above average grade point average. Prospective Master’s students need to have completed a three-year minimum degree program and have obtained at least 35ECTS credit points in political or social science. German as well as international Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree programs are recognized as the prerequisite to the Master’s program.

For information about the application procedure for international students please see Access to consecutive Master’s programmes with access restrictions.

A strong background in English is a necessary prerequisite for any of our programs. About 30% of our courses may be held in English. Please note, however, that the primary language of instruction is German and proof of sufficient German language skills (DSH-2 or equivalent) is a formal requirement for enrollment. At the time of application, the achievement of this German language proficiency should therefore be at least in realistic prospect. You can find information on the language requirements for international students here.

Information on tuition fees for international students at the University of Heidelberg can be found on this website.
