Ibero-Mediaevistik – Heidelberg Research on the Medieval History of the Iberian Peninsula
Arbeitsgemeinschaft Iberomediävistik (AIM)
The "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Iberomediävistik" emerged in 2022 from the Heidelberg initiative "Ibero-Mediävistik". Its primary goal is to create a network for the medieval studies in German-speaking countries dedicated to the Iberian empires, their cultures, and societies. It serves as an exchange platform and organises regular meetings in the form of workshops. The blog "Ibero-Mediaevistik. Medieval Research on the Iberian Peninsula" serves as a mouthpiece for the AIM and all other interested parties.
Iberome-Blog
The blog interconnects research on the history and cultures of the Iberian Peninsula, its societies, and formations of rule. The time frame covers the Middle Ages, i.e. the approximately 1000 years from the beginning of Visigothic rule in the 5th century to the 16th century. The intended readership includes those interested in history and art history, as well as literature, linguistics, law, and musicology. The blog is aimed not only, but especially at young researchers. It is intended to serve them as an interface: as a platform for presenting their own research and discussing it with others, as a source of information (indicating conferences, calls for papers, research initiatives, etc.), as a forum for discussions on theory and methodology, and much more. Last but not least, it is meant to give the German-speaking specialist community a voice and a face and thus promote international exchange.
