Concert tour to Japan

In September 2025, the Camerata will be travelling to Japan for twelve days. There we will present our programme ‘Bach, Brahms, Bruckner’ in the Kyoto-Kansai area with motets by these three important masters of German-language choral music, whose music is of great interest in Japan. The current occasion is the anniversary of the branch of our university in the old Japanese imperial city of Kyoto. It is important to us that Germany's traditionally good relations with Japan are also intensified and further developed in academic and cultural terms. 

The second programme we have in our luggage presents German folk songs, especially in arrangements by Romantic composers. This also fulfils the wishes of our Japanese hosts.

Our aim is to promote German choral music as well as contacts and friendships between young people from Europe and Japan. We are therefore planning choral encounters and joint workshops with students from Heidelberg's partner universities in Kyoto and Osaka, as well as at the universities of Mie and Nara. A special feature: a performance is planned at Expo 2025 in Osaka.
