Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University to Visit Heidelberg

Meeting with students and exchange with the Vice-Rector for International Affairs

The Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University, Prof. Andrew Hamilton PhD, will be visiting Heidelberg University on 6 September 2011 in the course of his first visit to Germany as Oxford head. Part of his visit is the “Oxford Talk”, a meeting with students, graduates and PhDs from Heidelberg and other German universities interested in a study sojourn at the University of Oxford. On this occasion, Prof. Hamilton will deliver an address entitled “A Shrinking World. Thoughts on Global Higher Education and Studying at Oxford”. He will also be available for questions and discussions. Before that, the Vice-Chancellor will be meeting Heidelberg University’s Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Thomas Pfeiffer. Their exchange will revolve around German-British collaboration in the field of higher education and the cooperation between Heidelberg and Oxford. Both universities are partners in the League of European Research Universities and the Coimbra Group. In addition, there are numerous instances of individual cooperation between Heidelberg and Oxford academics at faculty and department level.

The “Oxford Talk” will take place from 3.30 to 6 pm on Tuesday, 6 September 2011 in Lecture Hall 1 of the New University and the foyer of the building. You are cordially invited to attend and report.
