New Class of Fellows Appointed to the Marsilius-Kolleg

Press Release No. 42/2017
28 March 2017
Fourteen Heidelberg scientists engage with interdisciplinary research issues and projects

A new class of fellows has been appointed to the Marsilius Kolleg, Heidelberg University’s interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Study. From April 2017 to March 2018, fourteen Heidelberg scientists and scholars will engage with interdisciplinary research issues and participate in discussions at the Kolleg. At their regular sessions, the fellows are discussing topics like complementary methods beyond university medicine, that can be used in the treatment of chronic illness. In addition, they want to analyse central aspects of stress management from behavioural-economic, psychological, and neuroscientific perspectives. Another research project deals with “monetary policies and inflation in pre-modernity using the example of early China”.

The members of the tenth class of fellows at the Marsilius-Kolleg are the professors Christian Conrad (economics), Zeno Enders (economics), Michael Gertz (computer science), Enno Giele (chinese studies), Sabine Herpertz (psychiatry), Guido Kanschat (mathematics), Associate Professor Jens Keßler (anaesthesiology), Joachim Kirsch (neuroanatomy), Peter Kirsch (neuropsychology), Friederike Nüssel (theology), Yvonne Samstag (immunology), Christiane Schwieren (economics), Monika Sieverding (psychology) sowie Philipp Stoellger (theology).

The Marsilius-Kolleg under the direction of Prof. Dr Thomas Rausch and Prof. Dr Schneidmüller is a cornerstone of Heidelberg University’s Institutional Strategy to promote top-level research in the framework of the Excellence Initiative organised by Germany’s state and federal governments. Its aim is to bring together handpicked researchers from various academic cultures, thereby encouraging a research-related dialogue between the humanities, law and social sciences on the one hand, and the natural and life sciences on the other.
