Heidelberg University Germany’s Leading Contender in QS World University Ranking

Ranking by faculty: life sciences/medicine in Heidelberg head the field in Germany

Heidelberg University comes 53rd among the world’s leading universities in the QS World University Ranking published on 5 September 2011. As was the case last year, this makes Heidelberg Germany’s best university in this listing and confirms its position among the top international universities. Four German universities made it into the top 100 this year.

In the “rating by faculty” sector of the QS World University Ranking 2011, life sciences and medicine in Heidelberg’s once again head the list for the German universities, as they did in 2010. At present they rank 38th, seven places better than last year. Also among the international top 50 in the ranking by faculty category are Heidelberg University’s natural sciences (30th place) and humanities/cultural studies (39th place).

The QS World University Ranking evaluates the criteria academic reputation, faculty-student ratios, citations per faculty, employer reputation and the proportion of international faculty and international students.
