CfA: BMBF “Applications in civil security”

Target Group: Commercial enterprises as well as universities, scientific and research institutions and their research bodies

Deadline: September 15, 2024

The BMBF funds two modules of user- or company-led, pre-competitive collaborative projects in the field of civil security. The projects research and development work has to be geared towards specific current user needs in the fields of strengthening civil protection, better coping with hybrid threats, supporting secure supply, increasing the resilience of the population or enabling safe living. Commercial enterprises as well as universities, scientific and research institutions and their research bodies are eligible to apply. The application deadline for project outlines is September 15, 2024. 

CfA: BMBF - Strengthening start-up activities in the life sciences "GO-Bio next"

Organisation: BMBF Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung

Target Group: Scientists and researchers

Deadline: September 15, 2024

The BMBF is pursuing the goal of increasing start-up activities in the life sciences and accelerating the transfer from basic research to application and making it more efficient. Funding will be provided in two phases and an application is required to participate. Project outlines must be submitted in electronic form by September 15.

CfA: Trilaterale Erkenntnistransferprojekte

Organisation: German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft 

Target Group: Scientists and researchers

Deadline: September 17, 2024

The German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft are jointly calling for proposals in the field of knowledge transfer. Funding will be provided for trilateral transfer projects involving scientists from universities and Fraunhofer Institutes in cooperation with application partners with the aim of closing the gap between basic research and application. The maximum duration of the projects is three years. The DFG and Fraunhofer provide funding of up to € 3,000,000 per call. The aim of the call is to fund five to eight transfer projects.

CfA: BMBF - Young Innovators

Organisation: Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung ud Kunst Baden-Württemberg

Target Group: graduates and academic staff at universities, research institutions and state academies

Deadline: September 23, 2024

The Young Innovators (Junge Innovatoren) funding program is aimed at graduates and academic staff at universities, research institutions and state academies in Baden-Württemberg. Funding is not provided for business start-ups directly, but rather for the targeted preparation for them under the supervision of the university or research institution. The object of the start-up funding must be the production of an innovative product or process. The funding includes accompanying start-up coaching by experienced entrepreneurs and consultants. The deadline for submitting applications for the 42nd funding tranche is September 23, 2024. 

CfA: Innovation Xperience “Festo Automation for Good Challenge”

Target Group: Students, graduates and PH.D.s

Deadline: September 23, 2024

How can automation serve as a catalyst for positive change in addressing the most pressing global challenges of our time? On September 23, 2024 students and post docs have the chance to develop meaningful solutions that have a positive impact on our planet and humanity and present them on September 24, 2024 at the Festo.IO Conference. The three winner teams will have the option to be supported with Festo infrastructure for one year to bring their vision to life.

The Heidelberg Start-up Award (Heidelberger Gründungspreis) is granted to start-ups and founders that stand out for their innovation or courage in setting up their ideas. The prize was first awarded by the City of Heidelberg in 2023. The award is awarded in two categories: "Innovation" and "Courage" and the first-placed company in each category receives a prize worth 10,000 euros. CfA: Launch of HEIKA-STAR Funding Program 2024

Organisation: HEiKA-STAR 

Target Group: Scientists from the KIT and Heidelberg University

Deadline: October 21, 2024

HEiKA-STAR provides comprehensive seed funding to consortia of at least four renowned scientists from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Heidelberg University, enabling them to work towards larger joint funding applications to national or international research funding institutions. The funding amount is up to 200,000 euros per year with a duration of up to 24 months, with the possibility of an additional 12 months of funding. The application deadline is October 21, 2024. upCAT - The accelerator programme

Target Group: Scientists, researchers and students from the KIT environment, KIT partners and the Helmholtz Association with focus on deep tech

Do you have an initial idea for your own company and need a boost to turn it into reality? Then the Start-up Catalyst – upCAT – is the right place for you. upCAT is a joint offer of enTechnon, the Chair of Entrepreneurship and Technology Management and the KIT-Gründerschmiede. Teams of scientists, researchers and students from the KIT environment, KIT partners and the Helmholtz Association may participate. Teams should focus on Deep Tech.

Novo Nordisk validatioNN funding program   

Organisation: Novo Nordisk

Target Group: Life science scientists

The validatioNN funding initiative within the Novo Nordisk Science2Medicine program is aimed at life science scientists seeking (financial) support for a key experiment. The aim of this short grant is to test a clinically relevant hypothesis. The focus is on cardiometabolic diseases. Project funding is up to 50,000 € for six to nine months. Additional support is provided through access to resources and exchange with Novo Nordisk experts. Application by a written proposal is possible on an ongoing basis. Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs (EYE)

Organisation: Italienischen Handelskammer für Deutschland e.V (ITKAM)

Target Group: Young entrepreneur students

Do you want to explore new markets and develop and test your own skills abroad? With the EU-funded mentorship Erasmus programme for Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) and EYE Global, young entrepreneurs -up to 3 years of start-up experience, have the opportunity to work with an experienced entrepreneur abroad. The collaboration can last up to 6 months in EU countries and up to 3 months in the USA, Canada, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Israel. During this time, financial support is available. There are new mentors who are looking for innovative entrepreneurs.

BMWK – SUSTAINABLE IMPACT PROMOTION OF COMPANIES ORIENTED TOWARDS THE COMMON GOOD

Organisation: BMWK Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz

Target Group: Small and medium-sized enterprises 

The BMWK is pursuing the goal of professionalizing and expanding the expertise of small and medium-sized enterprises that are oriented towards the common good to support networking and cooperation. The funding program with a volume of 110 million euros consists of two modules: An individual module aimed directly at public benefit-oriented companies and start-ups, and a multiplier module aimed at public benefit-oriented companies and their institutional ecosystem. This includes incubators, accelerators, co-working spaces, business development agencies, chambers, technology and start-up centers or universities. Applications can be submitted until the end of 2028.
