HAJPChristmas markets and artificial intelligence

Not only Oktoberfests, but also Christmas markets enjoy great popularity abroad as German exports. This also applies to Japan, where the members of Heidelberg Alumni Japan (HAJP) like to meet up at a Christmas market at the end of the year.

This was also the case last December, when HAJP invited people to markets in Tokyo and Osaka – and many, including exchange students from Heidelberg, accepted the invitation. The group in Osaka, in particular, was larger than ever before with around 20 people. At both events, there was also a quiz with prizes on winter culture in Japan and Germany.

Another event to which Heidelberg alumni and alumnae in Japan were invited was the Nichi-Doku Joint Lecture on 30 January 2024, a lecture series organized by the Kyoto University European Center in Heidelberg together with the Heidelberg University Office, Kyoto (HUOK). This time, Dr Anton Zimmermann gave a lecture on the topic "Consensus without will? The contract in the age of artificial intelligence". Anton Zimmermann works at the Institute for Foreign and International Private and Commercial Law at Heidelberg University and currently also holds the Junior Professorship for Civil Law at the University of Giessen. Prof. Hiroko Habuka from the Graduate School of Law at Kyoto University, who is involved in various projects on the topic of AI, commented on the lecture and related it to his own research.
