Senate’s Representatives for Quality Development
More than 73 representatives from all university groups (professors, mid-level academic staff and students) and academic cultures (Life and Natural Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences) were elected as Senate’s Representatives for Quality Development (Sentatsbeauftragte für Qualitätsentwicklung – SBQE) at Heidelberg University.
As internal university experts, the SBQE provide advice and support for the faculties and departments in the development of their degree programmes. This is achieved with help of the Q+Ampel-Verfahren (a traffic-light rating system for quality assessment). Furthermore, the Senate's Representatives for Quality Development are actively involved in the development of the QM concept (criteria, instruments, processes) and support the decentralised units in quality assurance and development.
The professorial members and the members representing the mid-level academic staff are elected for three years whereas students are elected for two years. The period of office starts with the begin of the following semester; re-election is possible. The SBQE are elected by the Senate. Proposals for candidates can be put forward by the Senate's Representatives, the Senate's Representatives for Quality Development themselves, the President’s Office as well as the QM-Team Student Affairs and Teaching. Members of all university groups can submit proposals to the QM-Team Student Affairs and Teaching, which then discusses them with the heiQUALITY Center.
