Short Bio

Riaz Ahmed joined the chair in April 2013 as a doctoral student. He is also a guest research scholar at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), Mannheim, Germany. He obtained his master degree in business administration (MBA in finance) in 2008 and bachelor degree in business administration (BBA - 4years) in 2007 at Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) Quetta, Pakistan. He is an assistant professor at the department of Management Sciences, Turbat University Balochistan, Pakistan since August 2015 where he also served as a lecturer since October 2009. Before joining the Turbat University, he also worked as an operation officer at the Bank Alfalah Limited, Turbat Branch, Pakistan for one year.

His PhD program is being funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan with coordination of the DAAD, Germany.  His areas of interests are: microeconomics, development economics, and industrial economics. He is currently working on a project title “the effects of public spending on Infrastructure on industrial productivity in South Asian countries”.
