Hans-Georg Gadamer, the University of Heidelberg's most renowned living scholar, will be 100 years old on 11 February 2000

University, Academy of Sciences and Department of Philosophy are organising a festive ceremony and colloquium in his honour

Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. mult Hans-Georg Gadamer, the University of Heidelberg's most renowned living scholar, will be 100 years old on 11 February 2000. The University of Heidelberg, the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and the Department of Philosophy of the University of Heidelberg will be organising a festive ceremony and a colloquium in Professor Gadamer's honour.

Prof. Dr. Dieter Borchmeyer of the Department of Germanic Studies has written an appreciation of the life and work of Hans-Georg Gadamer, excerpts of which will be appearing on these pages soon.
