Seminars SS 2020
The IZN Seminar usually takes place every 2 weeks on Wednesdays 13:00-14:00 as an IZN Webinar, hosted on the University's Webex service. Each seminar has a unique access code which is announced on the IZN mailing lists.
Each speaker (usually two on the day) has ca. 25 minutes to present their projects plus 5 minutes for questions. The presentations are in English.
Group leaders: please arrange a speaker and get in contact with the IZN Administrator Dr. Otto Bräunling, who will include the booking on this page and distribute an announcement.
Information for speakers
The webinar 'moderator' will help the speakers prepare for their talks and pass the 'presenter' function to the relevant speaker.
A brief introduction to the functions will be given beforehand, if required.
The presentation is 'shared' from your computer. Tip: to restrict a PowerPoint presentation to one window: 'Slide Show' tab > 'Show Type': 'Browsed by an individual (window)'.
Headsets provide the best sound quality for the listeners - Macs must use one with a USB connection.
There are probably no users' cameras or microphones active during the webinar, with only a list of attendees' names visible. Questions are often posted in the Chat window, so keep this panel open.
The Department of Neurobiology in INF366 offers a room for hosting webinars using a high-quality webcam, headset, extra monitor, high-speed network and provide technical assistance. Use of this should be arranged in advance.
In rare cases of technical or IZN personnel availability problems, the speaker(s) may be asked to organise their own webinar and to pass the link to the IZN Administrator.
