Metabolism is more than simple degradation of nutrients. Besides generation of energy and building blocks, it actively interacts with signaling cascades steering cell survival, proliferation, and differentiation. This crosstalk requires a high extent of plasticity answering to minute changes in the cellular environment. We aim to study the mechanisms underlying metabolic signaling and to identify the crossroads of metabolism and signaling pathways using in vitro and in vivo models.
