Research Summary:

We focus on the understanding of how memories are formed and stored for long periods of time. We are investigating the molecular signaling pathways as well as transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of gene expression that play a role in memory formation and persistence. The elucidation of these mechanisms promises to advance our knowledge on the molecular mechanisms underlying cognitive functions, and also gain insight into the molecular basis of neurodegeneration and persistent maladaptive memories.
