Mitochondria and energy metabolism in central neurons
Institut für Physiologie und Pathophysiologie
Im Neuenheimer Feld 326
Our research is mainly centred on the bioenergetics underlying complex neuronal information processing in the cortex. A second focus is on the interactions between microglia (brain macrophages) and the functions of central neurons. The experimental studies comprise activity patterns that are related to learning and memory as well as epilepsy. We combine electrophysiological recordings and fluorescence imaging techniques in acute slices and slice cultures from wild-type and transgenic animals.
