Research Summary

Neuronal energy metabolism can adapt rapidly and reversibly to meet acute changes in energy demand. On a longer time scale, adaptations of neuronal energy metabolism are thought to support brain homeostasis. We are interested in understanding how synaptic activity-dependent gene transcription controls long-lasting adaptations of neuronal energy metabolism and how this renders mitochondria more resistant to stressful conditions.
