About the Division
The Research Division is committed to relieving researchers of as much administrative work as possible. Its end-to-end support of third-party funding projects includes comprehensive consulting at every level that researchers can rely on at any time during the life of the project. Through its range of information and customised guidance services, the division’s first task is to find the ideal funder for every scientific venture. In addition to supporting the project from proposal submission to the final report, the division advises and coaches scientists beyond the actual project, such as with regard to intellectual property or inventions that result from the research.
In close cooperation with the rectorate, the Project Office of the Excellence Initiative oversees individual measures related to the university’s institutional strategy. In particular, this includes supporting the call-for-proposals process, i.e. for FRONTIER projects, from start to finish. Exchange between the Project Office and the Excellence Initiative institutions will be further intensified in future through regular meetings with the directors of the clusters and the graduate schools. With the opportunity to help shape the Excellence projects of Ruperto Carola, the division also contributes to university’s image and reach.
EU research funding and other international funders are increasingly important. Finding new sources of funding and positioning Heidelberg University well, especially with respect to its inclusion in larger, transnational research associations, are challenges the division takes especially seriously.
