The Girls Club for Physics and Astronomy is a meeting point for all seventh grade schoolgirls who are excited about physics and astronomy and who want to learn more about natural science phenomena beyond their school education. They meet once a week in the club’s own room in the physics building at Philosophenweg.
Membership in the club enables schoolgirls to stay in touch with their mentors. These accompany and support girls until their Abitur (A levels equivalent) with questions concerning lessons or examination topics in natural science subjects.
The club is also present at various events (e.g. UniMeile, Heidelberg Junior University), takes part in panel discussions, and was part of the SWR documentary “Sterngucker – Von Heidelberg ins Weltall” (“Star-Gazers – From Heidelberg to the Universe”).
This supplementary education for female pupils is offered free of charge.
Venue –Astronomisches Lehrzentrum, Helmholtz-Gymnasiums, Rohrbacher Str. 102
